IFC is a leader in the Telecoms, Media, and Technology (TMT) sector and is recruiting a Senior Industry Specialist to support the continued growth and innovation of our TMT business. You will play a lead role in the technical and commercial assessment of investment opportunities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support sound, impactful, and well-performing investments across the globe.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Investment Processing: Provide expert technical and business input at all stages of the project cycle, from screening and appraisal to portfolio supervision.
- Project Diligence: Conduct detailed technical and commercial due diligence on investment projects, reviewing market dynamics, sponsor capabilities, technologies, financial projections, and risks.
- Portfolio Supervision: Participate in the supervision of portfolio projects, assessing performance, monitoring progress, and assisting in resolving operational challenges.
- Strategy & Business Development: Contribute to market creation, assess industry trends, and provide sector expertise for business development and strategic initiatives.
- Knowledge Leadership: Lead the development of targeted knowledge products and mentor junior staff to build expertise within the team.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Telecommunications, Electrical/Network Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of operational experience with deep technical and commercial expertise in the Telecommunications sector.
- In-depth experience in core TMT sectors (mobile network operators, towers, broadband, data centers) and an understanding of emerging areas like AI, satellites, and edge computing.
- Significant private sector work experience across both developed and emerging markets.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, business models, project management, and network technologies.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages (French, Spanish) are a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
